During the topic on ‘Transportation around our neighbourhood’, K2 children were involved in various activities. One of the activity was titled, ’Vehicle Snacks’. Children were given a variety of snacks, for example cream crackers, oreo biscuits, pretzels, wafers, bananas, m&ms and peanut butter. Children had prior knowledge of the types of vehicles that are found around their neighbourhood during their neighbourhood walk, library books and during lessons. Children used their imagination and were creative making trains, buses, aeroplanes, helicopter, boats, using the snacks given to them.


Nasha is carefully ‘glueing’ the wheel for the bus using peanut butter. She tells her friend,’ You must apply more peanut so that the wheels will not fall off’.



She is putting in her final touches to her bus.



See! I have done it!





Winnie is engrossed in making a train with the snacks. She used different kinds of biscuits to decorate her train. She wafers into square pieces to make ‘carriages’ for her train. She said,” My train can make the Choo! Choo! sound!”





Damien decided to make a sailboat. He used different coloured m&ms, oreo cookies, pretzels, wang wangs and wafers to create his masterpiece. He asked with a smile, "Teacher can I eat this later?"

Lai Jun Meng showed his patience and imagination by creating a ‘helicopter’ using a banana, pretzels, wafers and oreos. He was pleased at his handiwork as we can see from his expression.


More peanut butter!



Now I must stick the tail carefully.



I am making an ‘X’ on top and finally the wheels.



I can’t wait to eat this aeroplane!



"Look! My bus has two wheels in front and two wheels behind!”

亲爱的家长:
我非常感激你们在家长会里给予我们的支持与鼓励,知道到你们对于我们的课程充满信心,使到我们也感到很安慰,能够与你们分享孩子们的学习进展,也能帮助我们了解孩子的学习进度。
而第二学期的活动也开始了,单元是家、周围环境与社区,概念:我的邻居,主要让孩子认识邻居的概念,也认识多元种族的特色及传统节日和食物。
同时他们也学会日历标有“日期”、“星期”以及“月份”,认识一星期有七天,一年有十个月。

桌子摆着不同种族的传统食物,有马来人的糕点,印度人的印度煎饼和华人的各种糕点,哇!好像很好吃。










哇!看小朋友们在尝试各种的美食,他们都吃的津津有味,但小朋友最喜欢的还是印度煎饼。

During the lesson on ‘My school in the Neighbourhood’, Kindergarten 2 children were excited about making a ‘Box Town’. Children brought from home different sizes of boxes, paper tubes, egg cartons and other recycled materials for their artwork.


Jun Kexin is trying her best to fix the roof of her ‘flat’ that she had created. She tried using glue, but after a while gave up and used scotch tape instead.



Baxton, Calista and Adrianna are building their flat using different sizes of boxes and coloured papers. Baxton said ,”We must use black paper, cut small and make windows”



Winnie said,”I want orange roof because my real house has orange roof”.


Damien is fixing a green paper leaf to a toilet roll tube. He said,”I am making a tree for the box town”.


Children are engrossed playing at their’ Box Town’ which they had created. Damien is at the ‘fire station’ where the fire engine is going to put out the fire at one of the flat.

Xavier is at the ‘police station’ where the police car is chasing a thief. The other children are busy building a zoo and a road at another part of the Box Town.
